Fernando Miró Llinares is Professor of Criminal Law and Director of the CRÍMINA Centre for the study and prevention of crime at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. A native of Ibi, a town in the province of Alicante, Fernando Miró is an international reference in the field of the study of cybercrime, in particular, and the impact of technology on crime and the justice system's response to it, in general. He has published more than a hundred papers in Spanish and English with great impact, has directed more than 20 national and international research projects on these and other topics, and has given many lectures at prestigious institutions and universities. In addition to his many research stays at various universities, Professor Miró was a visiting professor for a year at the University College of London, and has been an advisor to the Council of Europe on the use of AI in prisons, evaluator of the European Research Council and advisor to the Confederation of Ministers of Justice of Ibero-America (COMJIB). He has been and is a member of numerous national and international institutions, and is currently the president of the Spanish Society of Criminological Research; Director of the recently created Summer School of European Criminology of the European Society of Criminology; member and general rapporteur for AI and Special Part of Criminal Law of the AIDP; one of the founders of the recently created association of criminal law professors; and founder of the European Society of Empirical Legal studies.
