Dear colleagues and friends,
It's with a great sense of satisfaction and pleasure that I and all of my colleagues from the organizing committee invite you all to participate on the 8th International Congress on Interpersonal Acceptance and Rejection (ICIAR), which will be held this year at University Institute of Maia (ISMAI), in the beautiful city of Maia, Portugal, between the 30th of June and the 3rd of July 2020.
Just next to the sun bathed, historical city of Porto, in northern Portugal, we invite you to engage with colleagues from different countries and continents around the world in discussing the latest progress, development, new concepts, and advances in the field of interpersonal acceptance and rejection (IPARTheory), as well as it's close connection to research and practice in the field of Psychology and other related fields.
Decades of international research on interpersonal acceptance and rejection has proven it´s close connection, importance and usefulness for psychological intervention in many different areas. From parental alienation to substance abuse, from disruptive behavior to academic achievement, from psychological adjustment to loneliness, IPARTheory is a research field of great scope and utility across different scientific and work fields, providing professionals and researchers with information and tools to enhance their skills and improve their efficiency. Not only psychologists but also teachers, educators, clinicians, lawyers, social workers, among other professionals, can benefit from the latest advances in IPARTheory.
One important and current field of work and research with close connection with IPARTheory is INCLUSION, as interpersonal acceptance is one of the fundamental pillars of inclusion. And it's under the theme of INCLUSION that our congress aims to explore the latest advances on interpersonal acceptance and rejection and it´s applications and usefulness for clinical psychology, school and educational psychology, education, social service, teaching, community intervention, career guidance, among other areas.
